DSM Food Specialties sells HVP business and production site to Oterap Holding, April, 2005
As per April 1st 2005 Oterap Holding BV will take over the HVP sales and manufacture activities of DSM Food
Specialties (DFS).
DFS is one of the world’s leading players in Yeast Extracts and Yeast Extract based Processed Flavours.
Next to that DFS is also a specialty player in the market of hydrolysed vegetable protein (HVP).
It is the strategy of DFS to focus on core activities and as a result of that DFS has decided to divest its
interests in the manufacture and sales of HVP based products, in order to further strengthen its position
in Yeast Extract based Processed Flavours.
Oterap Holding is a conglomerate of companies in the food industry. Oterap specializes in customization
of food and flavour products in composition, packaging and distribution.
It is the intention of Oterap to market the HVP activities under the Exter Brand- and Company name.Through
a dedicated product- and service offering Exter will grow the specialty HVP business and offer tailor made
flavour components to the European food-, flavour-, and seasonings industry.

Oterap achieves the BRC, IFS and Dutch Milk Board certification May, 2004
In April 2004 Oterap has achieved the certification of the British Retail Council and the
International Food Standard both on highest level. Moreover The Dutch Milk Board certificate (COKZ)
has been achieved which allows the processing and supply of dry milk based products
As a result Oterap can supply dry food ingredients as well as consumer products based on the
BRC and/or IFS and/or COKZ (milk board) certificate.

Lambert ten Haaf joins Oterap, Januari, 2004

Time for sale in Zaandam Holland. June 1, 2002

Since June 1 Oterap is located in Zaandam, Holland. Oterap is a new company in the food industry,
however based on 70 years accumulated food experience with its founders.
”The name Oterap is the reverse of Pareto (80/20 rule) and this,” says managing director
Ad van Vugt, “is exactly what we focus on.
Looking at buying, producing and selling the Pareto law says that you should focus on the larger volumes.
Oterap on the other hand focuses on bundling of the smaller volumes (20/80) with as a result buying power
and logistical advantages. A sophisticated IT system, build by Jalasystems with Oracle technology, adds
online information on availability (order status / contracts / documents) and purchasing / call off. All
this convenience saves time to spend on the 80/20 ingredients.
As an additional service ingredients can be delivered mixed and/or packed in every combination and or
quantity desired via our flexibility center.
The flexibility center we run together with Verpakkingsbedrijf Zaanstad a company with long time
experience in consumer food packing.”
